Cabbagetown is the new home to Karolina Conroy’s second installment of Hastings Barber Shop at 251 Gerrard St. East.
Her first shop lays in Leslieville, at the corner of Hastings Avenue and Queen St. East – hence the name, the second location opened it’s doors December 2014.
Karolina decided on Cabbagetown after driving by the venue; instantly getting a vision of a barbershop there.
“Cabbagetown has been accommodating to me, the people are phenomenal! So welcoming! Instantly I became a part of a very special community. From our neighbours to the passersby.”
Nestled between a coffee shop and a high-end vintage home decor store, we think it’s the perfect fit too!
Old school cuts and hot shaves are the specialities but with a pool table, vintage decor, and amazingly hip staff, we could see this shop turn into a hot spot in no time.
Hastings Barber Shop provides a comfortable environment for men and women of all ages requiring barber services. Providing clipper and scissor haircuts, you will always get the look you are going for as Karolina still believes in the traditional proverb that “The customer is always right.”
Playing records on vinyl adds to the authenticity of the shop. A place for men, especially, to get pampered without feeling pinched.
Karolina is a self-described country girl from Poland and attributes her success on a strong work ethic. She operates with no attitude or ego and hires like-minded people.
“You’re only as strong as the people who work for you and we all operate with kindness. When you walk into our shops you get a warm greeting immediately. I have a problem with the fast decline of customer service. I still value providing a service perfectly tailored to a customer’s specific needs (starting with a thorough consultation) and truly getting to know each client is something we pride ourselves on.
In the end, it makes work a lot more meaningful when you develop special relationships with clients. Hastings has become a place where friends get together for haircuts.”
Because using the best products yields the best results, Karolina makes her own.
